Peabody Individualized Achievement Test The Peabody is a standardized, nationally norm-referenced achievement test that meets the homeschool testing requirement for the state of Minnesota. It must be individually administered by a trained examiner, and includes assessment in the following content areas: Reading, Math, Spelling, Science, Social Studies and Humanities. The subtests and composite scores are calculated immediately - no waiting for results. The test is oral in format and almost conversational in tone. I strive to keep the test experience casual and un-intimidating for your child. It takes approximately 60 minutes to administer the test, but the exam is not timed. Testing is available year round and will assess K-12 levels. The Peabody is an Individualized Test. Each child is assessed using the material appropriate to their age and level of accomplishment, working toward higher material until they reach their functional level of difficulty. This allows children to rise to their level of ability without restricting their test level to a grade-specific range. This format gives a more accurate reading of your child's strengths and weaknesses, and removes the stressful byproducts of a typical testing situation (no timer clicking away, no confusing answer sheet, no misread test questions). Brand new this year, Kathy is offering the Peabody test through Skype. You and your children can be in the comfort of your own home. If you are not already familiar with Skype, it is easy to download and only requires you to have a computer with a microphone and camera. If you have questions about testing by Skype, Kathy has an information sheet that will help. Let me know if you have questions about the Peabody or if you would like to schedule a test date for your child(ren). |
